We have created a series of strategic objectives to support our strategic goals, pairing actions alongside these. It is important that we are able to monitor and evaluate our progress on our Strategic Plan so short term, medium term and long term goals have been set for each strategic area.
Whilst we have prepared for what we believe is the most likely direction of travel, we recognise that the environment in all contexts can change. Therefore, each objective will be reviewed and reported on each year before our Annual General Meeting, with a view to supplementary actions being agreed for the forthcoming year.
Little specialist infrastructure exists to support LGBT groups and organisations, and existing voluntary sector infrastructure organisations have often failed to acknowledge or provide support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender projects.
The Consortium was set up in 1998 to address these gaps; and to nurture the development of an LGB sector. In 2003, the desire for greater diversity from members saw the Consortium expanded its brief to include transgender voluntary and community organisations.
We currently host the largest network of LGBT groups, projects and organisations in the UK.
