Frisky and very decorated corner bar that started life in 1978, when ten women formed a collective and took over the space from two people Saar and Rein, thus the name Café Saarein. In 1999 a lesbian outside the circle, Dia, took over, reinvented the space (while retaining its classic Amsterdam 'brown café' interior) and changed the door policy from women-only to all-inclusive.
